Valley View Centre - located in Moose Jaw, provides long-term care services for people with intellectual disabilities

Jobs such as:  Food Services, Housekeeping, Resident Care, Stock Clerk, Recreation Therapist, Laundry worker, Group Activity Aide, Clerical.

 

Duties may include:  Serving meals and beverages, operating commercial food service equipment, cleaning walls, floors, carpets, furniture and fixtures, operating manual and power cleaning equipment, operating a variety of laundry equipment (i.e. washer, dryer, iron), performing program development, training and consulting duties in the delivery of occupational, physical and recreational therapy programs including development of intervention strategies for developmentally disabled clients and their families.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:  CPR and First Aid are required for some positions. Students who have had some experience working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities are preferred.

 

Preferred Field of Study:  Those with special care aide courses or past experience as a nurse's aide would be an asset for group activity aide positions. For Therapy positions, students majoring in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Education, or Psychology are preferred.
