February 2, 1948, the Saskatchewan Arts Board became the first arms-length government arts funding agency of its kind in Saskatchewan Development Fund Corporation The Saskatchewan Development Fund Corporation was established in 1974 to administer the Saskatchewan Development Fund, a low risk investment fund designed to provide both income and long-term investment growth to residents of the province. The Saskatchewan Development Fund continues to operate but in 1983, the Fund discontinued the sale of new shares to the public. The Saskatchewan Development Fund Corporation is administered by the Saskatchewan Development Fund Corporation's Board of Directors through the use of staff and facilities provided by Crown Investment Corporation of Saskatchewan.
