MLA for Melville-Saltcoats

Bob Bjornerud was born in Kelvington and was raised in Saltcoats. He began his career in mining with International Minerals and Chemicals in Esterhazy. Following this, Mr Bjornerud went into farming.

At the local level, Mr. Bjornerud served as a councilor in the Rural Municipality of Saltcoats for seven years and then as Reeve of the R.M. for another seven years.

Mr. Bjornerud was first elected to the Legislature in 1995 to represent the Saltcoats Constituency (now the Melville-Saltcoats constituency) as a member of the Liberal Party of Saskatchewan. As one of the founding members of the Saskatchewan Party, Mr. Bjornerud served as the critic for Agriculture, Municipal Affairs, and also as the Opposition Whip. He was re-elected in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011.

Mr. Bjornerud has three children and six grandchildren. He resides east of Yorkton with his partner Joan.

Bob Bjornerud est né à Kelvington et a grandi à Saltcoats. Il a d’abord travaillé dans le secteur de l’exploitation minière pour la société International Minerals and Chemical à Esterhazy. M. Bjornerud s’est ensuite orienté vers le domaine de l’agriculture. 

À l’échelle locale, M. Bjornerud a agi à titre de conseiller de la municipalité rurale de Saltcoats pendant sept ans, puis à titre de préfet de cette même municipalité pendant un autre sept ans. 

M. Bjornerud a été élu pour la première fois à l’Assemblée législative en 1995 comme député de la circonscription de Saltcoats (l’ancien nom de la circonscription de Melville-Saltcoats) pour le Parti libéral de la Saskatchewan. En tant que membre fondateur du Parti saskatchewanais, M. Bjornerud a agi comme porte-parole pour les dossiers concernant l’agriculture et les affaires municipales et aussi comme whip de l’opposition. Il a été réélu en 1999, en 2003, en 2007 et en 2011. 

M. Bjornerud a trois enfants et six petits-enfants. Il vit à Yorkton avec sa conjointe, Joan.
