MLA for Humboldt

Ms. Harpauer was raised on a small farm near Guernsey, Saskatchewan.  She completed high school at Lanigan Central High and attended Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon where she received her Medical Laboratory Technologist certificate.

Ms. Harpauer interned at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, and worked full-time in the Microbiology Lab from 1978 to 1983.  Later she married and farmed in the LeRoy area and raised three daughters.

First elected to the Legislature representing the former Watrous constituency in 1999, Ms. Harpauer was re-elected in the new Humboldt Constituency in 2003, 2007 and again in the 2011 provincial election.  During her time in opposition, she served as the critic for Highways, Agriculture, Investment Saskatchewan, Crown Investments Corporation, SaskPower and SaskEnergy.  She was also the deputy critic of Highways and Transportation and a member of the Legislature’s Board of Internal Economy.

Ms. Harpauer served as the Minister of Social Services from November 2007 to June 2010. She then served as the Minister of Education from July 2010 to May 2012. She was appointed Minister of Crown Investments on May 25, 2012.

Ms. Harpauer currently resides in Humboldt.

Mme Harpauer a grandi dans une petite ferme près de Guernsey, en Saskatchewan. Elle a fait ses études secondaires à Lanigan Central High et a fréquenté le Kelsey Institute, à Saskatoon, où elle a reçu son certificat de technologue de laboratoire médical.

Mme Harpauer a fait un stage à l’hôpital universitaire de Saskatoon, puis a travaillé à plein temps au laboratoire de microbiologie de 1978 à 1983. Plus tard, elle s’est mariée et a établi une ferme dans la région de LeRoy, où elle a élevé ses trois filles.

D’abord élue à l’Assemblée législative comme représentante de l’ancienne circonscription de Watrous, en 1999, Mme Harpauer a été réélue dans la nouvelle circonscription de Humbolt en 2003, 2007 et à nouveau en 2011. À l’époque où elle faisait partie de l’opposition, elle a agi comme porte-parole de son parti pour les routes, l’agriculture, Investment Saskatchewan, Crown Investments Corporation, SaskPower et SaskEnergy. Elle a également été porte-parole adjointe pour les questions touchant les routes et les transports ainsi que membre du Bureau de régie interne de l’Assemblée législative.

Mme Harpauer a été ministre des services sociaux de Novembre 2007 à Juin 2010. Elle a ensuite servi comme ministre de l'éducation à partir de Juillet 2010 à mai 2012. Elle a été nommée ministre de Crown Investments le 25 mai 2012.

Mme Harpauer vit actuellement à Humboldt.
