MLA for Prince Albert Carlton

Darryl Hickie was born in Winnipeg, MB into a military family and moved to Prince Albert in 1975. Mr. Hickie has lived and worked in Prince Albert for the past 35 years. Up until his election as the MLA for Prince Albert Carlton in November of 2007, Mr. Hickie served as a Constable assigned to the Forensic Identification Unit of the Prince Albert Police Service. He is also past President of the Prince Albert Police Association.

Prior to joining the Police Service in Prince Albert, Mr. Hickie was employed with the Correctional Service of Canada as a Correctional Officer and a Parole Officer for 14 years at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. During his employment with Federal Corrections, he obtained his B.A. degree in Sociology.

Mr. Hickie is an active member of his community. He is a past member of the Prince Albert Kinsmen Club, Director of the Crescent Acres Community Club and past member of the École Vickers School parent council. In his role as a police officer, he has had the opportunity to be the police coordinator on the Prince Albert Crime Stoppers Board. He is a past member of the Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce Investment and Growth Committee. Following the 2007 election, Minister Hickie was invited by Premier Wall to serve in the first Saskatchewan Party Cabinet as the Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing. 

Mr. Hickie and his wife Charlene, a teacher in Prince Albert for 25 years, have two daughters.

Darryl Hickie est né à Winnipeg, au Manitoba, dans une famille de militaires et a déménagé à Prince Albert en 1975. M. Hickie a vécu et a travaillé à Prince Albert durant les 35 dernières années. Jusqu’à son élection comme député de la circonscription de Prince Albert Carlton, en novembre 2007, M. Hickie était agent de la paix au Groupe de l’identité judiciaire pour le service de police de Prince Albert. Il est aussi président sortant de l’Association de police de Prince Albert.

Avant de joindre le service de police de Prince Albert, M. Hickie travaillait avec le Service correctionnel du Canada en tant qu’agent de correction; il a aussi été agent de liberté conditionnelle pendant 14 ans au pénitencier de la Saskatchewan. Au cours de ses années de service au gouvernement fédéral, il a obtenu un baccalauréat ès arts en sociologie.

M. Hickie est un membre actif de sa communauté. Ancien membre du club Kinsmen de Prince Albert, directeur du club communautaire de Crescent Acres et ancien membre du conseil de parents de l’École Vickers School. À titre d’agent de la paix, il a eu l’occasion d’être le coordonnateur de la police du conseil d’administration du programme Échec au crime de Prince Albert. Il a aussi été membre du Comité pour les investissements et la croissance de la Chambre de commerce de Prince Albert. À la suite des élections provinciales de 2007, le premier ministre Wall l’invitait à siéger au premier Cabinet du Parti saskatchewanais en tant que ministre des Services correctionnels, de la Sécurité publique et des Services de police.

M. Hickie et sa femme Charlene, qui est enseignante à Prince Albert depuis 25 ans, ont deux filles.
