News Release - May 25, 2006 STC TO OFFER YOUTH EXCURSION PASS AGAIN THIS SUMMER
The Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) will once again be issuing an affordable excursion pass for young people travelling in Saskatchewan this summer. The Summer in Saskatchewan passes carry a one-time cost of $100 and will allow people aged 15 to 25 unlimited travel on STC's routes during June, July and August.
"The Centennial Youth Excursion Pass offered last year by STC was a huge success," Minister responsible for STC Eldon Lautermilch said. "In total, the company sold more than 700 passes for use over the summer." "This was not only a success for the program, but it also seems to have significantly increased youth ridership on STC buses in general. It was a major contributing factor in STC's first increase in ridership in 16 years." "The passes offer a safe and reliable way for young people to travel over the summer and they are very affordable as well," Lautermilch said. This year, the seasonal pass will cost $100. Given that a single, return bus fare between Regina and Saskatoon costs just over $75, the value of the pass is clearly evident. Passes will be on sale at STC's depot in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert, as well as in its 190 agencies throughout the province starting Tuesday, May 30th. -30- For More Information, Contact:
