LIBRARY EDUCATION BURSARY AWARDED

Lorraine Salt from Saskatoon is the successful recipient of the 2004 Library Education Bursary. The annual $5,000 bursary offers funding to a student enrolled or accepted in a Master of Library and Information Science (MLS) program, or equivalent, who will live and work in Saskatchewan for at least two years after graduating.

"This bursary has made a huge difference in helping me complete the Master of Information Studies degree," Lorraine Salt said, who is studying at the University of Toronto. "I'm looking forward to returning to Saskatchewan to work as an information professional."

"The bursary was designed to recruit and retain professional librarians in Saskatchewan," Multitype Library Board Chair Frank Winter said. "This bursary program is an excellent example of Saskatchewan libraries working together to reach common goals. We wish Lorraine well in her studies and best wishes in her future career."

"We are pleased that the bursary program will attract professionals like Lorraine to Saskatchewan and help address succession planning in the library sector," Saskatchewan Library Association President Greg Salmers said.

The bursary is established through the partnership between Saskatchewan Learning, the Saskatchewan Library Association and the Multitype Library Board.
