News Release - October 25, 2010 NEW SPONSORSHIP FUNDING FOR AG-EXPERIENCEToday, the provincial government announced a new three year $15,000 sponsorship agreement with Prairieland Park's AG-Experience program. Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and MLA from Arm River-Watrous Greg Brkich made the announcement on behalf of Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud while speaking to students at the AG-Experience event in Saskatoon. AG-Experience is a multifaceted event aimed at children, parents, students and teachers. The program illustrates the importance of agriculture in Saskatchewan and the role farmers and ranchers play in feeding the world. "Our government is committed to promoting our agriculture industry and attracting youth to the sector," Brkich said. "This program will help students learn more about agriculture in Saskatchewan and the opportunities in this important industry." The AG-Experience event includes interactive displays focusing on the pork, dairy, beef, sheep, poultry, bison and elk industries, as well as a number of the crops grown in Saskatchewan. Students will have the opportunity to see live cow-milking, sheep shearing demonstrations, and other types of live farm animals. "Agriculture extends deep into the heart of the province and so does the commitment to agriculture programming at Prairieland Park," Prairieland Park Chief Executive Officer Mark Regier said. "We are pleased to see the government's commitment to agricultural education as it relates to food production and the impact it has on our daily lives." More than 250,000 people view the AG-Experience exhibit annually at various locations throughout the summer and at the AG-Experience for Students Program, which runs from Oct. 25 to 27 at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon. -30- For more information, contact:
