CHIEF CORONER RECEIVES RCMP RESPONSE TO PELLETIER INQUEST RECOMMENDATIONS

Saskatchewan's Chief Coroner Kent Stewart has received the RCMP's response to recommendations that came from the jury at the inquest into the death of Delbert Kenneth Pelletier. Pelletier, aged 44 years, died November 13, 2006, on the Muskowekwan First Nation. The inquest was held October 20 to 24, 2008, at the town hall in Lestock, Saskatchewan.

After hearing all of the evidence, it is the jury's responsibility to make findings and if appropriate, make recommendations in relation to preventing similar deaths. The Chief Coroner then forwards the recommendations to the applicable parties.

"I am pleased to receive this response and hope that this brings some measure of closure to all those impacted by this tragic death," Stewart said.

The RCMP response to the Pelletier Inquest can be found on the website of the Office of the Chief Coroner at http://www.justice.gov.sk.ca/doc20090608094215.pdf.
