News Release - September 8, 2000 SURFACING TO OCCUR ON HIGHWAY 2 NORTH OF WEYAKWIN
Repaving of a 13.5 km section of Highway 2 North of Weyakwin is ready to start.
"It is anticipated this $1.7 million project will begin immediately and should be completed, weather permitting, by the end of October," Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard Sonntag said. "Completion of this job will require an estimated 36 full-time workers." Mulder Construction & Materials Ltd. was awarded the contract as the lowest of five bidders. The paving begins nine kilometres south of the junction of Highways 936 and 2 and will continue north of this same junction. The province is spending $34.6 million this year to preserve, maintain and improve the condition of highways and airports in Northern Saskatchewan. "We are working hard to revitalize our highways system in northern Saskatchewan," Sonntag said. "We urge motorists to slow down and drive safely when they come upon construction and maintenance." -30- For more information, contact: Rock Gorlick, Director Engineering Projects Saskatoon Phone: 306-933-5225 (cell) (306) 227-8013 |
