SEVEN NEW YOUTH LEADERS APPOINTED TO ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Seven new youth leaders appointed to the Provincial Youth Advisory Committee (PYAC) attended their first meeting this weekend in Saskatoon. The committee is comprised of a group of 25 young people from across Saskatchewan who advise Government on a variety of important issues.

"I'd like to welcome all of the new members to the committee and thank outgoing youth leaders for their work," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel said. "The Provincial Youth Advisory Committee has been invaluable to Government in helping us make Saskatchewan the best place for young people to live, work and build strong futures. When youth are supported in taking on leadership roles, they contribute in very positive ways to the strength of this province."

During the meeting this weekend, the Provincial Youth Advisory Committee tackled a variety of issues. Among other items, their opinion was sought by the McCall Review on the accessibility and affordability of post-secondary education.

This meeting also saw Nicole White and Mitchell Anderson handing over co-chair duties to Cassie Nesbitt and Rick Rieger.

"I am very honoured to be appointed co-chair of PYAC, a group of intelligent, dynamic and diverse youth from across Saskatchewan," Nesbitt said. "I have great respect and admiration for the members of this committee, and hope that my leadership and facilitation skills will assist us in moving forward."

Since its inception in 2003, the Provincial Youth Advisory Committee has advised Government on youth attraction and retention, education, leadership, employment and training.
