News Release - January 22, 2001 RESURFACING ON HIGHWAY 2 NEAR CUDWORTH
A tender has been awarded for resurfacing 10.3 km of Highway 2 near Cudworth
during the upcoming construction season. "Work for this $1.1 million resurfacing project is anticipated to begin in mid- May of 2001 and should be completed by early June," Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard Sonntag said. "Completion of this job will require an estimated 24 full-time workers." The resurfacing project on Highway 2 will take place at two separate locations - from the junction of Highway 27 to 3.7 km North and a 6.6 km section near the Cudworth Access Road. Anderson Rental & Paving of Saskatoon was awarded this resurfacing project. This resurfacing project was identified in the 2000/2001 Winter Tender Schedule for Saskatchewan highway work, worth an estimated $90 million. The Winter Tender Schedule ensures timely and efficient delivery of highway improvements this spring. "Highway 2 near Cudworth has seen an increase in truck traffic that is leading to deterioration on this highway," Sonntag said. "It's important to keep our highways in good driving condition to ensure the safety of the travelling public." -30- For more information, contact: Rock Gorlick, Director Engineering Projects Highways and Transportation Saskatoon Phone: (306) 933-5225 (cell) 306-227-8013 |
