News Release - September 24, 2003 WEB SITE ALL ABOUT SASKATCHEWAN YOUTH
Saskatchewan youth have a brand new web source for practical information on subjects such as money management, scholarships, travel, health, sports and recreation. The web site saskyouth.net, developed in consultation with youth from across the province, is designed specifically for youth living in the province.
"Saskyouth.net is all about Saskatchewan youth. Young people throughout the province have told us many times that they need one accessible source for information that's meaningful to them," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Joanne Crofford said in launching the site today in Regina before hundreds of youth. "This site is a portal that links Saskatchewan young people to the answers to their questions, big and small." The information on saskyouth.net is organized into six categories: Your Thoughts; Your Province, Your World; Your Health; Your Money; Your Spare Time; and Your Future. The categories were selected after the site was tested with youth aged 14-29 from across the province. "Saskyouth.net will be shaped by the youth who use it. We want young people to bookmark this site and to visit it regularly," Crofford said. "Its success depends on the suggestions users give us." Information packages introducing saskyouth.net have been sent to schools and libraries throughout the province. School resource centres and guidance counsellors will be good sources of information for students about this newest on-line resource. Crofford said the information and features on the site would be updated regularly. -30- For More Information, Contact:
