CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY SEASON AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE

Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission Bill Hutchinson invites citizens and visitors to Saskatchewan's capital to attend an Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas at Government House in Regina on Saturday, December 11, 2010.

"This is a great opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with family and friends and experience the splendour of Government House," Hutchinson said. "I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this wonderful event and explore our province's rich history and the role this heritage property played in the development of Western Canada."

The Old-Fashioned Victorian Christmas will begin at 6:30 pm and run until 8:30 pm. Several indoor and outdoor activities are planned for the event, including horse-drawn wagon rides throughout the Edwardian Gardens.

Christmas carollers and a storyteller will also be on hand, as well as a very special guest all the way from the North Pole. The Amédée Forget Museum will be open to visitors and will be decorated in traditional Victorian Christmas décor.

Family photos will also be taken at the event which can be downloaded from the Provincial Capital Commission website.

The Provincial Capital Commission was established in April 2010, with the goal of promoting and preserving the distinct heritage and cultural entities within the capital city, including Government House, Wascana Centre Authority, the Saskatchewan Archives, Conexus Arts Centre and the Territorial Building.
