News Release - September 18, 2003 NEW FUNDING FOR DISABILITY COMMUNITY IN SASKATOON
Elmwood Residences Inc. of Saskatoon today received a capital grant of $284,000 from the province to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities. Community Resources and Employment Minister Glenn Hagel presented the cheque to Elmwood Board Chairperson Jim McClements.
An existing home for six people will be replaced by two homes, each with space for four people. In addition, a respite home operated by Elmwood will be renovated to better meet the needs of its users. Hagel said the availability of respite care supports individuals who wish to live with their families. "This project is consistent with government's vision that all Saskatchewan people have opportunities to contribute to and be included in the economic and social life of the province," Hagel said. The Saskatchewan government has allocated nearly $6 million in new funding this year to support citizenship and participation for persons with disabilities. -30- For More Information, Contact:
