News Release - August 28, 2009 GOVERNMENT SIGNS HISTORIC AGREEMENT WITH U.S.The Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with North Dakota today to provide consultation services on Saskatchewan's correctional best practices. "Our government is excited to share our experience and learn from our new partners in North Dakota," Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert said. As part of the MOU, the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing will assist U.S. Federal Probation and Pretrial Services in the District of North Dakota to establish effective correctional practices. "Today's historic agreement is a significant step towards enhancing community safety in Saskatchewan and North Dakota, and will help us meet our shared goal of safer communities," Huyghebaert said. Under the terms of the MOU, Saskatchewan will provide services to North Dakota that include risk assessment and certification, Clinical Director training, implementation of community safety, and clinical supervision training. The MOU is a two year partnership, with the option of increasing the duration.
