VOTE “HUMBOLDT IS HOCKEYVILLE IN 2009!”

The Government is encouraging the people of Saskatchewan to vote for Humboldt as Hockeyville 2009.

Humboldt, along with Terrace, British Columbia; Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Woolwich, Ontario were chosen to be one of the top five finalists for hosting Kraft Hockeyville 2009. The fifth finalist will be announced February 21 during Hockey Night in Canada.

"Hockey is such a big part of Saskatchewan's identity," Social Services Minister and Humboldt MLA Donna Harpauer said. "We have raised the best players, we have the greatest fans and enjoy the best hospitality around. Well done Humboldt - represent our hockey pride!"

"Congratulations to the City of Humboldt for this Hockeyville campaign and for being selected as a top finalist for the Kraft Hockeyville 2009," Sask Sport Inc. president Ian Cook said.

As a finalist, Humboldt won $25,000 toward the Elgar Petersen Arena from Kraft, plus they will host a CBC Hockey Night in Canada broadcast from their community on February 21.

Finalists will move on for the chance to win the title of Kraft Hockeyville 2009. Your votes will decide. Vote "Humboldt is Hockeyville in 2009!" on February 28 at 10:00 p.m. after the fifth and final Top 5 Community broadcast on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. Polls will be closed at 10:59 p.m. on March 4.
