News Release - May 24, 2011 MORE THAN 500 FAMILIES TO BE HONOURED BY ISC WITH CENTURY FAMILY FARM AWARDSInformation Services Corporation (ISC) will recognize 525 Saskatchewan families this spring with a Century Family Farm Award. The award commemorates 100 years or more of continuous family farming. The family farm has long been one of the cornerstones of the provincial economy and rural life in Saskatchewan. Once this year's program wraps up on June 3, more than 4,500 farm families will have been honoured with the award since the program's inception in 1981. "Reaching the century milestone of farming the same land is an incredible achievement," Minister responsible for ISC Tim McMillan said. "These recipients are a testament to the dedication and strong work ethic that farm families in Saskatchewan have come to be known for." Four celebratory events will be held to honour recipients from May 30 - June 3:
The Century Family Farm Awards are delivered on an annual basis. Recipients must apply for the awards by March 15 and meet the following eligibility criteria:
Each recipient family receives a high-quality colour re-print of their ancestor's original land grant or title, along with 12 commemorative certificates and either a free indoor wall plaque or cedar gate sign at a reduced price.
