VICTIMS SERVICES PROGRAMS EXPAND TO SPIRITWOOD

The Government of Saskatchewan is supporting victims of crime by providing funding to expand the Prince Albert Regional Victims Services (PARVS) program to the Spiritwood RCMP detachment area.

Victims Services programs offer help and support to victims of crime or traumatic events immediately after a crime, and throughout the criminal justice process.

"Our government is very proud of Victims Services in our province, and we continue to look for ways to expand and enhance the services that are available to victims," Justice Minister Don Morgan said. "I extend my thanks and congratulations to all who helped make this program a reality in the Spiritwood area."

Annual funding of $43,442 to PARVS supports the establishment of a new part-time Victims Services Assistant Co-ordinator position based in Spiritwood. The new assistant co-ordinator began work in September, and services are now being provided to victims of crime in the area.

"This expansion brings Spiritwood into our network of 18 police-based Victims Services programs that are available to 87 per cent of the province's population," Morgan said.
