Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert said the government has responded to this summer's severe flooding by taking the unprecedented step of getting preliminary cheques out a quickly as possible, before the claims are adjusted. "We have moved quickly to offer support to residents and municipalities, and will continue to make that assistance available so that victims can start the recovery process." "It's important to remember these are preliminary cheques. Those who suffered damages of greater than $3,000 will receive further assistance as their claims are adjusted."
