PREMIER EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES ON LOSS OF TWO RCMP CONSTABLES
On behalf of the people of Saskatchewan, Premier Lorne Calvert expressed deepest condolences and sympathy to the families, friends and colleagues of RCMP Constable Robin Cameron, who died late last night and RCMP Constable Marc Bourdages, who passed away early today.
The RCMP officers were injured in a shooting incident July 7th, near Mildred, Saskatchewan.
"These families and all others touched by this loss are in our prayers and thoughts as they now deal with the overwhelmingly sad reality of Constable Cameron's and Constable Bourdages' passing," Calvert said. "We all grieve for these young lives, lost in service to the people of Saskatchewan.
"These two officers were heroes amongst us, filled with life and potential. They were committed to careers of service to the people of this country, this province and the community of Spiritwood – in which they were currently stationed," he added.
Calvert said the men and women who police our province are extraordinary and unselfish citizens.
"To the family, friends and loved ones of Constable Cameron and Constable Bourdages, the people of this province and this country, owe you an enormous debt of gratitude," Calvert said. "Your loss is our loss."
Provincial flags will be lowered to honour the fallen officers.
