Premier Roy Romanow today announced the first official visit of the new
Governor General of Canada to coincide with the province's 90th
anniversary celebrations, September 4, 5 and 6.

His Excellency the Right Hon. Romeo LeBlanc and Mrs. Diana Fowler
LeBlanc will participate in a variety of engagements during their visit
including a provincial anniversary celebration in front of the
Legislative Building on September 4; a visit to the Francophone
community of Saint Isidore-de-Bellevue, tour of health care facilities
in Saskatoon, and an event at Wanuskewin Heritage Park on September 5;
and parade at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Training Academy for
the centennial of the chapel on September 6.

At a ceremony in the Legislative Building on September 6, following
military honours, the Governor General will officially register
Saskatchewan's coat of arms with the Canadian Heraldic Authority;
dedicate a Register of Orders and Decorations; and open a North-West
Mounted Police gallery.

"We are honoured to welcome the Governor General and Mrs. LeBlanc to
Saskatchewan at this focal point in our anniversary year," Romanow
said. "During this commemorative time with us, they will be able to
reflect on our progress and share first hand in our pride."

1:30 p.m. Official tree planting by the Governor General and Mrs.
LeBlanc, Government House.

3:30 p.m. 90th Anniversary Celebration - Parade of antique cars to
Legislative Grounds; Official welcomes, children's

4:15 p.m. Cake cutting ceremony; walkabout.

4:30 p.m. Performance by Saskatchewan Express and Connie Kaldor.

Tuesday, September 5, 1995
10:00 a.m. Visit to Francophone community of Saint-Isidore-de-

1:45 p.m. Saskatoon tour
Governor General visits Luther Seniors' Centre.

Mrs. LeBlanc visits St. Paul's Hospital, Palliative
Care Unit.

2:30 p.m. Governor General and Mrs. LeBlanc visit Royal
University Hospital and Saskatoon Cancer Centre; meet
with Meyoyawin Aboriginal Committee.

3:30 p.m. Official opening of renovated main gallery, Wanuskewin
Heritage Park.

Wednesday, September 6, 1995
10:00 a.m. Inspection of parade at Training Academy, Royal
Canadian Mounted Police, and visit R.C.M.P. Chapel
on the occasion of its centennial.

11:00 a.m. Military honours in front of the Legislative
Building; ceremony hosted by Premier Roy Romanow:
Registration of Saskatchewan Coat of Arms;
dedication of Register of Orders and Decorations;
opening of North-West Mounted Police gallery.

11:50 a.m. Governor General and Mrs. LeBlanc depart
Legislative Grounds in provincial landau with
Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Wiebe to Hotel

2:30 p.m. Departure and farewell from Regina Airport.
