News Release - August 4, 1995 GOVERNOR GENERAL TO VISIT SASKATCHEWAN
Premier Roy Romanow today announced the first official visit of the new
Governor General of Canada to coincide with the province's 90th anniversary celebrations, September 4, 5 and 6. His Excellency the Right Hon. Romeo LeBlanc and Mrs. Diana Fowler LeBlanc will participate in a variety of engagements during their visit including a provincial anniversary celebration in front of the Legislative Building on September 4; a visit to the Francophone community of Saint Isidore-de-Bellevue, tour of health care facilities in Saskatoon, and an event at Wanuskewin Heritage Park on September 5; and parade at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Training Academy for the centennial of the chapel on September 6. At a ceremony in the Legislative Building on September 6, following military honours, the Governor General will officially register Saskatchewan's coat of arms with the Canadian Heraldic Authority; dedicate a Register of Orders and Decorations; and open a North-West Mounted Police gallery. "We are honoured to welcome the Governor General and Mrs. LeBlanc to Saskatchewan at this focal point in our anniversary year," Romanow said.
