MINISTER PROMOTES SASKATCHEWAN'S MINING POTENTIAL

Industry and Resources Minister Eric Cline will promote mineral exploration and investment in Saskatchewan at an international mining convention in Toronto, March 11th and 12th, 2003.

The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) international convention, trade show and investors exchange has become one of the most important events in the global mineral industry, bringing together a wide range of players from around the world.

"Saskatchewan offers immense untapped mineral potential," Cline said. "PDAC is a great opportunity to promote Saskatchewan mining to industry leaders from around the world. We will highlight a number of recently introduced incentives that make mineral exploration and development in our province very attractive."

The value of mineral production in Saskatchewan is approximately $2.4 billion annually and accounts for over six per cent of the province's GDP. The sector is vital to Saskatchewan's economy, contributing $218 million in Crown revenues used to support important social programs.

Saskatchewan is the world's largest producer of uranium and potash, and also produces gold, copper, zinc, salt, coal, clay, sodium sulphate, silver, lead and nickel.
