NEW MEMBERS APPOINTED TO THE SASKATCHEWAN-UKRAINE RELATIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Deputy Premier Ken Krawetz today announced the appointment of Laurent Mougeot and Holly Paluck of Regina, and Danylo Puderak of Saskatoon to the Saskatchewan-Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee.

"For more than 100 years, tens of thousands of Ukrainians immigrated to this land and have since left and continue to leave an indelible mark on communities across the province," Krawetz said. "And now a century later that bond still remains. For 20 years the Advisory Committee continues to provide the Government of Saskatchewan with invaluable advice and direction regarding the historic and ongoing relationship between the province of Saskatchewan and the people of Ukraine. With these new additions, I know that the committee will continue to successfully fulfill its mandate as we move into the future."

The Saskatchewan-Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee is:

  • Dr. Natalia Khanenko-Friesen, Saskatoon
  • Alicia Klopoushak, Saskatoon
  • Gerald Luciuk, Regina
  • Fredrick D. (Rick) Mantey, Regina
  • Laurent Mougeot - Regina
  • Holly Paluck - Regina
  • Nadia Prokopchuk, Saskatoon
  • Danylo Puderak - Saskatoon
  • James (Jim) Shevchuk, North Battleford
  • Mary-Anne Trischuk, Yorkton

The community-based committee, originally created in 1993, provides advice on government and private sector activities in Saskatchewan and Ukraine to strengthen the civil society of Ukraine. They also monitor and make recommendations on the progress of the 1995 Saskatchewan-Ukraine Memorandum of Co-operation.
