News Release - December 19, 2011 SASKATCHEWAN RANKS NUMBER ONE IN WHOLESALE TRADESaskatchewan ranked number one in percentage increase of wholesale trade in both annual and monthly comparisons for the month of October according to a new Statistics Canada report. "Wholesale trade has continued to grow in 2011, matching a growing provincial economy," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "With the many jobs available across the province and higher wages, businesses are stocking up to meet a higher demand for goods from Saskatchewan families." There was a 33.7 per cent increase in wholesale trade in October 2011 when compared with the same month last year, over four times the national average of 8.3 per cent. On a monthly basis, wholesale trade was up 8.4 per cent, well ahead of the 0.9 per cent recorded nationally. -30- For more information, contact:
