SASKATCHEWAN RANKS NUMBER ONE IN WHOLESALE TRADE

Saskatchewan ranked number one in percentage increase of wholesale trade in both annual and monthly comparisons for the month of October according to a new Statistics Canada report.

"Wholesale trade has continued to grow in 2011, matching a growing provincial economy," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "With the many jobs available across the province and higher wages, businesses are stocking up to meet a higher demand for goods from Saskatchewan families."

There was a 33.7 per cent increase in wholesale trade in October 2011 when compared with the same month last year, over four times the national average of 8.3 per cent. On a monthly basis, wholesale trade was up 8.4 per cent, well ahead of the 0.9 per cent recorded nationally.
