The Government of Saskatchewan today announced $1.375 million in funding to five agricultural organizations in the province.
"The Province is committed to the growth and development of the agriculture industry throughout Saskatchewan, and today's investment is tangible proof of that commitment," Agriculture and Food Minister Mark Wartman said.
"The organizations we support play an important role in the areas of agricultural research and development, awareness, youth involvement, production, and health and safety. We are pleased to continue our support of their positive work on behalf of Saskatchewan's agriculture industry."
Recipients of the $1.375 million in funding include:
- Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute - $600,000
- To provide support for operational costs and for research conducted on behalf of the Saskatchewan agriculture industry.
- Saskatchewan 4-H Council - $300,000
- To assist the council with administration and promotion of 4-H activities and to encourage youth involvement in the agriculture industry on a provincial basis.
- Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board - $250,000
- To support the Livestock Predation Intervention Program, which helps producers of all species deal with predation problems and in so doing contributes to the growth of the Saskatchewan livestock industry.
- Prince Albert Agriculture Development and Diversification Board #32 - $125,000
- To assist livestock producers through the control of black flies along the North Saskatchewan River.
- Canadian Centre for Health and Safety in Agriculture - $100,000
- To support extension programming to promote the health and safety of rural people and agriculture producers.
