News Release - April 27, 2005 CELEBRATE OUR YOUTH
The province is inviting Saskatchewan residents to celebrate the many successes of our young people during International Youth Week May 1st - 7th.
International Youth Week began in 1995 as a small grassroots movement in Canada and has since grown into an internationally recognized event. "International Youth Week is an opportunity to honour the talents, ideas and abilities of our province's young people," Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Joan Beatty said. "I encourage Saskatchewan people to celebrate and reach out to the young people in their communities. The ultimate goal is to inspire proactive youth involvement in communities year-round." Cities, community groups and schools are encouraged to host events, activities and projects that engage youth and recognize youth achievements, talents and contributions to the community. Young people are urged to get involved in the planning and development of these events. "Our government is committed to building a bright future for our young people," Beatty said. "Saskatchewan youth are our province's greatest natural advantage and as a province we need the innovation, skills and vision of youth for our province to succeed in the next 100 years." -30- For More Information, Contact:
