CO-OPERATING TO ADDRESS FISH AND WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT INTERESTS

Saskatchewan Environment and the Saskatchewan Outfitters Association (SOA) have signed an agreement to co-operatively address fish and wildlife and other environmental management interests.

The renewed Memorandum of Understanding formalizes a working group to address priority interests of the sector affecting the management of the ecology that supports the ongoing health of the outfitting industry in the province.

"We have a world-class natural environment that supports tremendous fishing and hunting opportunities in our province," Environment Minister David Forbes said. "This agreement will ensure we move forward co-operatively as we continue to build a green and prosperous Saskatchewan.

Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, Saskatchewan Environment and the SOA will meet several times a year to track progress on the issues of mutual concern.

"The Saskatchewan Outfitters Association views this as an opportunity to co-operatively begin the process of addressing many of the challenges and advancing the potential of the industry," SOA Executive Director Hal Stupnikoff said.
