CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN TECHNOLOGY, ENHANCED TEACHING AND LEARNING

Saskatchewan Learning is pleased to join other Campus Saskatchewan members in presenting the province's fourth annual Technology Enhanced Teaching and Learning Symposium.

Saskatchewan post-secondary faculty members, instructional designers, multimedia and technology specialists and students have come together to share innovative practices and examine the challenges in teaching and learning through technology. The Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) Wascana Campus is hosting this year's Symposium called Teaching, Learning and Technology (TLt): Transitions and Transformation. It started yesterday and wraps up tomorrow, Tuesday, May 3rd.

"Saskatchewan Learning recognizes the benefits of technology enhanced learning and has provided nearly $17 million over the past five years to make it possible for the universities, SIAST, Regional Colleges and Métis and First Nations institutions to enrich their learning environments and increase access to courses and programs," Environment Minister David Forbes said, on behalf of Learning Minister Andrew Thomson. "With nearly 200 televised, online, or blended courses and learning resources now available, post-secondary students have more flexible options. Faculty and staff have gained valuable knowledge and skills that have earned national recognition."

"The strength and popularity of our symposium lies in its emphasis on effective teaching strategies for technology enhanced learning. A practical pre-conference day focuses on software tools, online facilitation, faculty workload management and faculty development workshops," Symposium chair Denise Nelson said. "Colleagues will share their tacit knowledge, the ideas and insights gained from their pioneering work in this field. This is a perfect opportunity to learn from the expertise building across our Campus Saskatchewan community, as well as from national and international leaders in technology enhanced teaching and learning."

Campus Saskatchewan is a partnership of provincial post-secondary institutions, directed and managed by its members with support from Saskatchewan Learning. The partners work together to enhance post-secondary education across the province through increased access to online learning, televised instruction, and other communication networks.
