News Release - November 25, 2004 UPGRADING EIGHT SASKATOON AREA SCHOOLS
The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $564,000 on improvements to eight schools in Saskatoon and surrounding area.
"The provincial government is committed to providing modern, well-equipped learning facilities for Saskatchewan students and teachers," Learning Minister Andrew Thomson said. "We are investing in schools, in students and in the future of Saskatchewan." The capital improvement projects include: • The Saskatoon East School Division will receive $174,000 to construct two new relocatable classrooms at Clavet Composite School; • The Saskatoon Catholic School Division will receive $174,000 for roof replacement projects at Cardinal Leger Elementary School, E.D. Feehan High School, Holy Cross High School, St. Edward Elementary School and Bishop Klein Elementary School; and • The Saskatoon Public School Division will receive $216,000 for roof replacement projects at Holliston Elementary School and Caroline Robins Elementary School. The projects will be cost-shared with the Saskatoon East School Division and the Saskatoon public and Catholic school divisions. The provincial government is investing $3 million in this first funding release of block capital projects for the next fiscal year to improve the learning environment in 32 K-12 Saskatchewan schools. Additional capital projects will be announced throughout the 2005-06 fiscal year. "Schools today are more important than ever as vital centres of our communities," Thomson said.
