SASKATCHEWAN VOLUNTEERS HONOURED

Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock announced the names of the 12 individuals who will receive the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal. The medal recognizes outstanding volunteer service or exceptional community involvement.

The recipients are:

• Dr. Shakeel Akhtar, Saskatoon;

• Verna Alford, Regina;

• Colleen Bailey, Yorkton;

• Luba Crawford, Candle Lake;

• Margaret Duncan, Estevan;

• Dr. Tony Harras, Regina;

• Mary Heimbecker, Saskatoon;

• Gene Kessler, Pangman;

• Henry Kloppenburg, Saskatoon;

• Anne Reinhardt, Eatonia;

• Ruth Robinson, Saskatoon; and

• Tom Shepherd, Regina.

The Lieutenant Governor will present the medals during a ceremony at the Legislature April 28th.

Including this year's recipients, 84 Saskatchewan citizens have been awarded the Volunteer Medal since its inception in 1995.
