News Release - May 14, 2004 SGI INTRODUCES THE DEDUCTIBLE PAYMENT PLAN
On June 1st, 2004, Saskatchewan vehicle owners will have a new option to finance the payment of their deductible. SGI is introducing the Deductible Payment Plan to allow customers with basic auto insurance to repair their vehicle immediately after it is damaged, then pay off the deductible over a period of 10 months.
"People don't plan to have an accident, and sometimes paying the deductible can be tough on the family budget," Minister responsible for SGI Maynard Sonntag said. "It doesn't matter how a vehicle is damaged - collision, vandalism or theft - if a customer has a deductible to pay, and is eligible under the program, they can access the plan." The payment schedule under the Deductible Payment Plan works as follows: · A $100 deductible down payment must be made when the customer picks up their repaired vehicle. · SGI will automatically deduct the balance of the deductible from the customer's bank account over the following 10 months, on the day of their choice. · There is no interest charged, but there is a one-time $30 administration fee charged at the same time as the first payment. This fee covers the cost to SGI of delivering the program. "This is the first program of its kind - no other insurance company helps finance a customer to help them get their vehicle back on the road," Sonntag said. "As the public auto insurer, SGI's mandate is to provide the best customer service possible, at the lowest rates possible. This is another example of how we're doing just that." -30- For More Information, Contact:
