HONOURING SASKATCHEWAN'S PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNEL

Provincial Secretary Donna Harpauer joined Lieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart to present 28 recipients with the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal in Saskatoon today.

"Each of the individuals we honour today has directly served the people of Saskatchewan making our communities better, safer places to live, work and raise a family," Harpauer said. "On behalf of the province it is my pleasure to participate in recognizing the efforts and celebrating the achievements of these men and women."

The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan and their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity. Today's recipients include firefighters, police officers, corrections workers, conservation officers and emergency medical responders.

Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
