News Release - July 6, 2006 PRAIRIE TO PINE ARTISANS TOUR
The Prairie to Pine Regional Economic Development Authority (REDA) will host its second annual Artisans Tour July 15th and 16th in northwest Saskatchewan.
"The Prairie to Pine REDA-sponsored Artisans Tour is an excellent example of communities working together to promote and capitalize on their unique regional assets," Deputy Premier and Regional Economic and Co-operative Development Minister Clay Serby said. "Tourism is a $1.4 billion industry in Saskatchewan and a key growth opportunity for the provincial economy." Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with artists in their homes and studios, and watch as they create unique works of art. A variety of artwork, including woodwork, painting, clothing, furniture, glassware and pottery will be available for purchase. Visitors can also stop at Imhoff's Studio, part of the original residence and art gallery of the world famous German artist Berthold von Imhoff. "The Artisans Tour is an exciting way to showcase our local artists, who possess a wide variety of talents," Prairie to Pine REDA board member and artist Dorothy Textor said. "The scenic drive between studios makes the tour even more enjoyable." Brochures and maps for the self-guided tour are available at travel centres, municipal offices and businesses in the Prairie to Pine region, which extends from Meota to St. Walburg and Paradise Hill.
