TWO SASKATCHEWAN EMPLOYERS GUILTY OF LABOUR STANDARDS VIOLATIONS

Two companies have pleaded guilty to numerous Labour Standards Violations and were fined a combined total of $1,690.

Grill House Café Inc., formerly operating in Davidson, pleaded guilty to two charges under The Labour Standards Act and has been fined $400 in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

  • The Grill House Café was charged with failing to provide employment and payroll records upon demand by a Labour Standards Officer and issuing one employee a cheque for payment of wages that was not honoured by a bank. Additional charges against Grill House Café were stayed in court.

Impact Security Group Inc., an employer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba with security businesses operating in both Regina and Saskatoon, has pleaded guilty to four charges under The Labour Standards Act and has been fined $1,290 in Regina Provincial Court.

  • Impact Security Group was charged with failing to pay employees their final wages and annual holiday pay within 14 days after the day on which the termination of employment took effect. Additional charges against Impact Security Group were stayed in court.

The Labour Standards Division of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Labour Standards Act and Regulations as well as other labour legislation. Whenever necessary, violations will be prosecuted.
