NEW MEMBER OF SASKATCHEWAN POLICE COMMISSION

Paul Korpan, Q.C., has been appointed to the board of the Saskatchewan Police Commission.

“The addition of Paul Korpan to the Saskatchewan Police Commission will greatly assist the Commission in its work to promote adequate and effective policing throughout the province,” Justice Minister Frank Quennell said.  “His experience as a mediator will be a valuable asset to both the Commission and the policing community.”

Mr. Korpan obtained his Bachelor of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in 1979 and practises in the areas of family law, estate litigation, personal injury and civil litigation.  He is also qualified by the Law Society as a mediator and accredited as a collaborative family law practitioner.  Mr. Korpan is a regular pro bono volunteer and pro bono counsel and adjudicator for youth issues in sport, serving as hearing committee chair and appeals committee chair and adjudicator for Water Polo Canada.

Other members of the Saskatchewan Police Commission are Michael Tochor (chairperson), Karen Prisciak (vice-chairperson), Edward Henderson and Betty McKenna.

The Saskatchewan Police Commission promotes the preservation of peace, prevention of crime, efficiency of police services and the improvement of police relationships with Saskatchewan communities.
