News Release - December 15, 2009 HONOURING SASKATCHEWAN'S PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNELLieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart and Provincial Secretary June Draude presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to 26 recipients at Government House in Regina this afternoon. The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity. "Each of the individuals we honour today represents a long tradition of ingenuity, dedication and excellence - the true character of Saskatchewan," Draude said. "We are very fortunate to live in a province where those tasked with keeping us safe have set such high standards. On behalf of the grateful citizens of Saskatchewan, we thank you for your dedication to the safety of the people and property in our province." Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
