FINANCIAL IRREGULARITY UNDER INVESTIGATION
The Department of Corrections and Public Safety has referred a case involving financial irregularities with an inmate trust fund to police for investigation.
One employee has been dismissed after financial irregularities were identified. The amount under investigation is over $1,000, but could be as high as $18,500.
The dismissal follows an internal investigation after a manager identified concerns just last week.
The Provincial Comptroller and the Provincial Auditor's offices have been notified. The Comptroller continues to work with Corrections and Public Safety to ensure proper procedures are in place across the department.
Specific details will not be released because the matter is under investigation by police.
