MINISTERS RESPONSIBLE FOR JUSTICE MEET IN OTTAWA TO DISCUSS YOUTH CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT

Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan will be in Ottawa on Friday to attend a meeting of federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for justice to discuss a comprehensive review of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

"We are certainly supportive of the review announced by the federal justice minister," Morgan said. "I look forward to meaningful discussion with the other ministers and I am optimistic that we will leave with a clear agenda for how this review will proceed."

Morgan said that participation in this meeting is one more step toward keeping the Saskatchewan Party government's campaign promise to keep Saskatchewan communities more secure.

The last comprehensive review of the Young Offenders Act in 1995 led to the development of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
