EXEMPLARY CORRECTIONS SERVICE HONOURED

Lieutenant Governor Dr. Lynda Haverstock and Corrections and Public Safety Minister Peter Prebble today recognized 31 men and women for career achievements in the provincial and federal correctional services.

Recipients of the Corrections Exemplary Service Awards must have worked for at least 20 years, including 10 years in a correctional institution, parole or probation office and demonstrated exemplary conduct and displayed excellence and devotion to duty.

"Corrections staff help keep our communities safe and deliver effective rehabilitation programs that help offenders to reintegrate successfully back into the community," Prebble said. "Congratulations to all these dedicated recipients who also make many voluntary contributions to their communities in addition to the important and sometimes heroic corrections work that they perform daily."

Corrections Exemplary Service Medals recognize the special obligations and hazardous conditions that peace officers experience in their work with Adult Corrections or Young Offender Programs of Saskatchewan Corrections and Public Safety or with the Correctional Service of Canada.
