EMPLOYERS, JOB SEEKERS VISIT SASKJOBS IN INCREASING NUMBERS

Record Visits, Growing Job Totals

In a sign of continued job creation in Saskatchewan, SaskJobs.ca has seen its highest job total in 24 months.

SaskJobs has reached 7.4 million visits so far in 2010, already surpassing 2009's single year record of 6.9 million. The site saw 742,000 visits in October, a 23 per cent year-over-year increase.

Saskatchewan employers posted 10,527 opportunities to the site in October 2010, an increase of 19 per cent over the same month last year. Jobs were posted in 243 Saskatchewan communities.

"Job seekers inside Saskatchewan and beyond our borders continue to look at our province as a beacon of opportunity - and for good reason," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "With a record population, record employment for each of the past eight months and record earnings, Saskatchewan offers an unmatched quality of life to its citizens."

Of the 10,527 jobs posted in October:

  • Nearly three quarters were full-time positions;
  • Half were located outside of Saskatoon and Regina; and
  • More than a quarter were in the Trades and Transport category.

SaskJobs.ca is Saskatchewan's largest job-matching website. The site provides free job posting services for employers across the province and in every sector of the economy.
