CELEBRATING PARKS WEEK IN SASKATCHEWAN

Saskatchewan's provincial parks will be celebrating Saskatchewan Parks Week, July 11th to 17th, and Canada's Parks Day on July 17th.

Environment Minister David Forbes designated the week of July 11th to 17th as Saskatchewan Parks Week and encourages all residents to celebrate the unique natural and historic resources and recreational opportunities offered by provincial, urban and regional parks.

"Saskatchewan is fortunate to have such a diverse parks system," Forbes said. "I encourage everyone to visit a provincial park this summer to enjoy the natural beauty our parks have to offer."

Forbes joined other provincial and territorial ministers responsible for parks in designating July 17th as Canada's Parks Day. Canada's Parks Day is an annual event celebrating the importance of Canada's national, provincial and territorial parks. The major goal of the day is to focus public attention on conserving Canada's natural and cultural heritage, in which parks serve a major role.

Throughout the week, parks will be hosting a variety of special events. For further information on Parks Day and Parks Week events, please visit the Parks Web site at www.saskparks.net or call toll-free 1-800-205-7070.
