News Release - March 29, 2004 SASKWATER PARTNERS WITH CONSULTING ENGINEERS OF SASKATCHEWAN
SaskWater and Consulting Engineers of Saskatchewan (CES) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) guiding the business relationship between the two organizations. SaskWater contracts CES member firms for the majority of the design/build work it does as the Crown water and wastewater utility.
"This MOU will be worth $3.1 million to CES members in 2004," Minister Responsible for SaskWater Peter Prebble said. "This is an increase of 200 per cent over SaskWater's business last year with CES. Saskatchewan's consulting engineering firms will benefit in a significant way from investments made by SaskWater, generating jobs and business opportunities for Saskatchewan residents in the private sector. It is an excellent example of a partnership between a Crown utility corporation and private sector firms, that brings advantages to both partners and delivers high quality service to local communities." "Members look forward to working through our new partnership with SaskWater and furthering our common goal to provide quality water and wastewater services to Saskatchewan residents," CES Chair Dwayne Gelowitz commented on the MOU. "Safety and environmental stewardship have always been central to the services provided by consulting engineers and are in harmony with the SaskWater quality culture." According to the MOU, SaskWater will retain consulting engineers and geoscientists for the majority of engineering services, ranging from conceptual design through to commissioning and start up. -30- For More Information, Contact:
