CELEBRATING PARKS WEEK IN SASKATCHEWAN

Saskatchewan Parks Week is being celebrated from July 10th to 16th, and Canada's Parks Day is on July 16th.

"Saskatchewan is fortunate to have such a diverse parks system," Environment Minister David Forbes said. "I encourage everyone to visit a provincial park this summer to enjoy the natural beauty, historic resources and recreational opportunities our parks have to offer. With the centennial year upon us, I can think of no better way to celebrate, than to showcase our parks."

Forbes joined other provincial and territorial ministers responsible for parks to designate Saturday, July 16th as Canada's Parks Day. It will be an annual event celebrating the importance of Canada's national, provincial and territorial parks. The major goal of the day is to focus public attention on conserving Canada's natural and cultural heritage, in which parks serve a major role.

Parks will be hosting a variety of special events throughout the week. Free fishing weekend in Saskatchewan is July 9th and 10th, which provides another great reason to visit during Parks Week.
