PROVINCIAL INVESTMENTS IN CAPITAL PROJECTS BENEFIT RESIDENTS

In its ongoing commitment to sharing the benefits of a strong economy with people throughout the province, the Government of Saskatchewan has recently invested more than $62 million on capital projects in the Parkland Central region.

"Saskatchewan's economy is booming because of the hard work of our people and government programs that are encouraging investment and growth," Healthy Living Services Minister Graham Addley said while visiting businesses in Wakaw and Kinistino. "This year, our government introduced the largest infrastructure budget ever because we believe the people of Saskatchewan deserve to share in the benefits of our strong economy through improved services."

Projects that have received funding include $15,000 to replace old sewage pumps in Kinistino to improve water treatment in the community; $250,000 to upgrade the water treatment system in Birch Hills, where the town's growing population has increased demand on the current system's capacity; more than $411,000 for roof repairs and safety upgrades at schools in five communities, St. Brieux, Three Hills, Stobart, Birch Hills and St. Louis; and significant investment in local road and highway improvements.

"These projects not only enhance the quality of life for people living in the area, but they will improve upon the tourism and business climate in the area, giving people even more reason to live, work and build their future in Saskatchewan," Addley said. "Investments in biofuels, our highways, educational facilities, health care systems and municipal infrastructure, will help communities province-wide capitalize on the many opportunities being created by Saskatchewan's growing economy."
