NEW GREENFEED SEEDING DEADLINE FOR 2005

Crop Insurance customers are reminded that the deadline to seed greenfeed is now June 30th.

"An earlier seeding deadline better reflects good agronomic practices and yield potential for greenfeed," Saskatchewan Crop Insurance General Manager Stan Benjamin said. "Also new for 2005 is the Greenfeed Establishment Benefit, providing forage producers with coverage similar to that available to grains and oilseed producers."

June 30th is also the deadline to file Greenfeed Establishment Benefit claims. Greenfeed acres that fail to adequately establish or suffer significant damage before June 30th due to insurable causes are eligible for establishment benefits of $20 per acre.

All greenfeed acres must be reported to Crop Insurance by July 5th.

Complete information on Crop Insurance's forage insurance programs including important deadlines can be found in the 2005 Forage Program's brochure and at www.saskcropinsurance.com.
