News Release - September 20, 2011 GLASLYN CONTRACTOR PLEADS GUILTY TO SAFETY VIOLATIONL & M Wood Products Limited Partnership of Glaslyn has pleaded guilty to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act in North Battleford Provincial Court. The company was fined $10,000. A worker operating conveyor equipment was seriously injured at L & M's sawmill near Glaslyn in July, 2009. The company was charged with failing to ensure that a stopping device for the trim saw was within the direct view and easy reach of its operator. Three other charges against L & M Wood Products were stayed. The worker's employer, Thunder Employment, was also charged with four violations under the OHS Act. That case has been adjourned to October 26, 2011. OHS conducts over 4,000 worksite inspections annually to ensure standards are known, understood and enforced. -30- For more information, contact:
