YORKTON YOUTH RECOGNIZED FOR CREATIVE WORK

A Yorkton youth has received an award in a unique Saskatchewan Centennial contest.

Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan (ISC) has presented Luana Koch, a student at Yorkton Regional High School, with a $200 award for her essay titled, The Churko Farm, which portray beautiful memories of her grandfather's farm.

As part of celebrating Saskatchewan's Centennial year, ISC is encouraging youth participation in Centennial events and is providing a scholarship to one Grade 12 student in each of 20 schools that volunteered to be part of the program.

The initiative asked students to write an essay under the broad topic of the land in Saskatchewan. Essays can cover any number of subjects or aspects – open to the creativity of the author - ranging from a family homestead, an interesting landmark, a location where an historic event took place, or any other subject connected to the land in our province.

The program fosters the creativity of students and builds an enhanced awareness of Saskatchewan. The contest targeted students in and around communities in which ISC's Customer Service Centres are located.

Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan is the provincial crown corporation responsible for the administration of provincial land titles, surveys, mapping and geographic information services as well as the personal property registry.

Through its land titles registry, ISC has been involved in granting and titling land in this province since 1886. All winning essays in ISC's Grade 12 Centennial Essay contests will be posted to a special ISC Centennial website at www.centennial.isc.ca.
