SASKJOBS MAINTAINS MOMENTUM, SEES 24 PER CENT INCREASE IN JOB POSTINGS

SaskJobs.ca continues to be a key destination for employers and job seekers across Saskatchewan and the country.

Saskatchewan employers posted 9,765 opportunities to the site in November 2010, an increase of 24 per cent over the same month last year. Jobs were posted in 264 communities throughout the province.

Since January 1, employers have posted more than 103,000 jobs to the site, surpassing the total number posted overall in 2009.

"Yesterday, the CFIB's Business Barometer noted that Saskatchewan businesses are the second most optimistic in the nation," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "The same survey also noted that the shortage of skilled workers continues to be the primary business constraint in the province. Both of those sentiments are good news for skilled workers, and are duly reflected in a growing number of employment opportunities in Saskatchewan."

Of the 9,765 jobs posted in November:

  • Two thirds were full-time positions;
  • Half were located outside of Saskatoon and Regina; and
  • One quarter were in the Trades and Transport category.

SaskJobs saw 773,000 visits in November, a 31 per cent year-over-year increase. The site has reached 8.2 million visits so far in 2010, further increasing the single record already set last month.

SaskJobs.ca is Saskatchewan's largest job-matching website. The site provides free job posting services for employers across the province.
