PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GRANTS 500 GENERAL PROFICIENCY AWARDS

The Ministry of Education, through the Saskatchewan General Proficiency Awards program, has awarded 500 students from across Saskatchewan with a $400 scholarship.

"Student achievement is a priority for the Government of Saskatchewan and we take pride in recognizing and celebrating the achievements of our students," Deputy Premier and Education Minister Ken Krawetz said. "This scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Education to reward excellence and to encourage young people in their pursuit of post-secondary education."

The General Proficiency Awards, totalling $200,000 annually, are granted to graduating students from provincial schools based on criteria established by the Ministry of Education as a contribution to their post-secondary education.

The ministry allocates a number of awards to each school division based on the number of Grade 12 students in that division. Each school designates their best students based on Grade 12 marks and advises the ministry of their nominations.

Award recipients have received letters of congratulations from the Minister of Education. The Ministry of Education will distribute the scholarships later this month.

Please see attached for complete list of recipients.
